Fees

Defendants generally do not have to pay court fees. Some fees may apply to appeals to the district court from local court summary offence matters. Where a fee applies, the court registrar may decide to waive, postpone, or refund a fee, if certain circumstances apply.

For more information, see the Criminal Procedure Regulation 2017, and s 307 of the Criminal Procedure Act 1986.

These fees are effective from 1 July 2021 and are prescribed by Schedule 2 of the Criminal Procedure Regulation 2017.
